As part of our commitment to regenerate the overall area around the former Biro House site, we undertook a refurbishment programme of 11 London Transport Arches, which were previously used as breakers yards and motor repair garages. Under new leases, in conjunction with London Underground and Transport for London, we transformed the 11 arches and the surrounding area to create a business hub for local entrepreneurs and an opportunity for local community groups to provide valuable services to the local area. Sensitive landscaping and the provision of seated areas and security lighting have made the area much more inviting and welcoming than before.
The Arches have provided a diverse range of businesses opportunities from a nursery school at one end of the Arches, to a grocery store at the other end. Not surprisingly, all 11 Arches are occupied on long leases and continue to serve their local community with a variety of services.
